India’s Rapido fixes data breach exposing user, driver info

Indian ride-hailing platform Rapido fixed a security flaw in a website feedback form that exposed users’ and drivers’ personal data, including names, email addresses, and phone numbers, transmitted through an API to a third-party service.

TechCrunch confirmed the vulnerability by submitting a test message, which later appeared in the compromised portal containing over 1,800 entries, mostly drivers’ phone numbers.

Rapido swiftly restricted access to the portal after being notified, with CEO Aravind Sanka clarifying that the survey process was managed by external parties and some links reached unintended users.
