India’s Mohalla Tech to invest up to $10.5m in AI dramas
Mohalla Tech, the Bengaluru-based parent of ShareChat, Moj, and QuickTV, said it will invest up to 1 billion rupees (US$10.5 million) through the end of 2026.
The funding will support the expansion of AI-generated micro-dramas, hire staff, and expand AI-assisted production.
The company said AI-generated shows now account for about 10% of its content mix and could rise to 30% to 40% by the end of 2026, depending on audience response and production economics.
Mohalla Tech said its current AI workflows cut production costs by about 40% vs. live-action production and that it is working to raise that to 70%.
The company also said its platforms record 850 million daily episodic video plays, reach about 70 million monthly active users for the format.
The company plans to release six AI-led dramas in early August before adding six to 10 each month.
QuickTV was launched in early 2025 as an Android app for short dramas and movies, and Mohalla Tech distributes micro-dramas across QuickTV, ShareChat, and Moj.
