🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Operating revenue rose 15%, but non-operational items lifted reported profit

  • Reported profit was Rs 347 crore in Q2 FY26 versus Rs 85 crore, lifted by tax one-offs 1. Interest income of Rs 162 crore on deposits and investments padded revenue beyond operations.
  • Stripping these effects, trends align with operations. Operating revenue rose 15% while expenses rose 14%, which implies moderate profit gains.
  • Employee costs rose 11% while revenue grew 15%, which signals better operating leverage. Ad spend was Rs 108 crore, so the company is still pushing customer acquisition.
  • Naukri revenue rose 13% to Rs 582 crore, ahead of 99acres at Rs 115 crore. Recruitment remains the larger piece of the mix.

  • Fresher hiring rose 15% YoY 2. Advertising & Marketing was +54% for entry roles, and Media & Entertainment was +45%, which opens room for background verification and onboarding vendors.
  • AI and ML roles grew 61% YoY across all experience levels 2. Pune was +91% and Chennai was +71%, which guides assessment and technical screening vendors on where to focus go-to-market (GTM) plans.
