India’s Gupshup launches AI video avatars for customer service
Gupshup, a San Francisco- and Mumbai-based conversational engagement platform for businesses, launched Avatar Agent on October 14, 2026.
The self-service product lets companies build video-based AI agents for customer interactions.
Gupshup said Avatar Agent can extend existing messaging agents to voice and video, run on websites and mobile devices, and hand customers to human staff when needed.
It follows Gupshup’s recently launched voice AI offering.
Gupshup said the product is now available on its website with a free tier that includes Gupshup branding and pay-as-you-go pricing for businesses that scale up.
In the broader AI video market, HeyGen and Synthesia compete as video-generation platforms, rather than as direct rivals in interactive customer service avatars.
Companies deploying AI avatars in the European Union may also need to disclose that customers are interacting with AI under the EU AI Act’s transparency requirements.
