India’s Gameskraft shuts down after gaming law, ex-CFO fraud case
Gameskraft will lay off 120 employees as part of a restructuring, the company said on September 18, 2025.
The Indian online gaming firm has had to completely shut its business following the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which led many local gaming startups to end real-money game offerings and shift focus.
Gameskraft said group health insurance for affected staff is expected to stay active until March 2026 or until the individual joins a new employer.
The layoffs come as Gameskraft filed a first information report (FIR) against its former CFO, Ramesh Prabhu, who has been accused of diverting over 250 crore rupees (US$28.3 million) for personal futures and options (F&O) trading between FY20 and FY25.
