India’s Ather Energy narrows gap with Ola Electric as EV sales drop

Ola Electric’s market share in the electric two-wheeler segment has decreased to 17.2% as of July 27, 2025 down from 19.9% in June, according to Vahan data.

Ather Energy reported a 16.5% market share with 13,187 units sold in July, reducing the gap between the two companies to 526 units.

In June, Ola Electric sold over 5,000 more units than Ather Energy.

This shift in market dynamics coincides with Ola Electric’s focus on profitability, which has affected its sales performance.

The electric two-wheeler market is facing challenges due to China’s restrictions on rare earth magnet exports, essential for motor production.

This issue has impacted production across the industry, including major manufacturers like Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor.
