Indian VC firm launches $100m fund for early-stage startups

India-based Prime Venture Partners has launched its fifth fund, valued at US$100 million, to invest in early-stage startups in country.

The fund will begin deploying capital in the second half of 2025, supporting 16-18 startups with initial investments of US$2 million to US$4 million. Follow-on funding of up to US$12 million per company is also possible.

Target sectors include fintech, AI, global SaaS businesses, and ventures focused on digitizing the Indian economy.

Over 80% of the fund’s corpus has already been committed by limited partners, with full deployment expected by late 2025.

Meanwhile, Prime Venture Partners is still allocating capital from its fourth fund, which should be completed by mid-2025. Fund IV-backed startups include FinAG, Hitwicket, Ocean, Navdan, Metafin, TheBox, and Alchemy.

This move comes amid a growing focus on early-stage startups, with firms like Info Edge, JV Ventures, and A Junior VC also launching new funds targeting different stages of startup growth.
