IIMA Ventures, an investment platform established by IIM Ahmedabad, and Jaivel Aerospace have launched a fund to support early-stage aerospace and defense startups.

The fund aims to invest up to US$400,000 each in 8–10 companies focused on areas including autonomy, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, and secure communication systems.

Startups will also get access to mentorship, development facilities, and Jaivel’s global manufacturing network.

The fund is not structured as an alternative investment fund and is supported by balance sheet capital from both partners, with plans for expansion through additional corporate participation.

IIMA Ventures has previously backed companies such as Sagar Defence, ePlane, Ideaforge, and Nabhdrishti in the sector.

The initiative follows increased investor interest in India’s aerospace and defense industry, partly driven by government efforts to boost local manufacturing and exports.
