Indian state officials to resolve Samsung worker dispute

State officials in Tamil Nadu are addressing a labor dispute at Samsung’s factory in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.

About 500 workers have been conducting a sit-in protest for nine days over the suspension of three employees.

Tamil Nadu’s Labour Minister C.V. Ganesan told that efforts are underway to resolve the dispute.

Normal operations are expected to resume within two to three days.

Samsung, called the sit-in an “illegal strike.” The company claims that production at the plant remains unaffected, as most employees continue to work.
