GalaxEye, a Bengaluru-based Earth observation startup, said on Aug. 10 that it had acquired StarOps, a Bengaluru spacecraft engineering company that traces its origins to TeamIndus, to bring satellite platform development in-house.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal gives GalaxEye StarOps’ engineering team, proprietary spacecraft technologies, and qualified satellite bus platforms in the 50-kilogram, 150-kilogram, and 250-kilogram classes.

GalaxEye is developing Drishti, an 8–12 spacecraft Earth observation constellation that combines synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and multispectral sensors on a single satellite.

The company launched its first spacecraft on May 3, 2026.

StarOps said its satellite systems have more than 66% indigenization, referring to the share of components and technology developed domestically.

The acquisition comes as India’s private space sector expands.

IN-SPACe has authorized private remote-sensing satellite operations under published guidelines, while a Pixxel-led consortium has been backed to design, manufacture, and deliver a private Earth observation constellation.
