Indian SaaS firm Credgenics acquires debt collection firm Arrise

Credgenics has acquired Arrise, a debt collections service provider in India, to expand its field collections capabilities nationwide.

Credgenics, which provides software as a service (SaaS)-based debt collection technology, said the deal will support its new CG Setu initiative to digitize and standardize field collections for banks, NBFCs, digital lenders, and asset reconstruction companies.

Arrise, founded in 2019, operates in over 25 Indian states with a network of more than 5,000 professionals.

The company will continue to be led by its current management for at least five years.

The acquisition gives Credgenics a wider footprint in on-field debt recovery, digital collections, voice automation, litigation, and repayment management across more than 18,000 Indian pin codes.

The combined companies aim to reach annual revenue of 850 crore rupee (US$97.6 million) within three years.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s debt collection market shows significant scale and consolidation potential

The acquisition reveals the massive scale of India’s debt collection industry, with Credgenics alone managing 98 million loan accounts worth over USD 250 billion in FY24 across 150+ financial institutions1.

Arrise’s network spans 25+ Indian states with over 5,000 professionals providing services in 13+ vernacular languages, demonstrating the geographic complexity and linguistic diversity required for effective debt collection in India1.

The combined entity’s revenue target of INR 850 crores over three years suggests substantial market opportunity, particularly as India’s lending sector continues expanding through digital finance and NBFC growth.

This scale indicates that debt collection has evolved from a fragmented, localized service into a technology-driven industry requiring significant operational infrastructure and regulatory compliance capabilities.

2️⃣ Hybrid tech-physical model addresses unique challenges in emerging markets

The CG Setu initiative represents a strategic response to debt collection challenges that require both technological efficiency and local human presence across India’s diverse geography.

Credgenics’ approach of combining its SaaS platform with Arrise’s field operations across 18,000+ pin codes demonstrates how technology companies in emerging markets must adapt to local realities rather than pursuing purely digital solutions1.
