Indian proptech startup HouseEazy said to raise $11.7m

HouseEazy, a proptech startup focused on house resale, is reportedly in advanced discussions to secure 100 crore rupees (US$11.7 million) in funding.

Sources informed that the investment round may include a tier-I venture capital firm and existing investor Chiratae Ventures.

This funding could be an extension of HouseEazy’s Series A round, which raised US$7 million in August 2024 through equity and debt financing led by Chiratae Ventures.

Founded in 2021 by Tarun Sainani and Deepak Bhatia, HouseEazy’s platform aims to simplify real estate transactions by connecting buyers and sellers directly.

The company uses machine learning algorithms to determine price points, which reduces reliance on intermediaries like brokers.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s secondary real estate market is embracing digital transformation

HouseEazy’s rapid growth demonstrates how technology is finally penetrating India’s traditionally fragmented resale property market.

The startup turned profitable in just 3 years, with revenue surging 3X to INR 10.7 Cr in FY24, showing strong product-market fit for digital solutions in this sector 1.

This success reflects a broader industry shift where 75% of homebuyers now rely on digital platforms and 50% engage in virtual property tours for transactions, according to Aurum PropTech’s research.

The $90 billion unorganized secondary real estate market in India represents a massive opportunity for technology-driven solutions that eliminate intermediaries 2.

HouseEazy’s machine learning algorithms provide real-time price quotes, addressing a fundamental information asymmetry problem that has historically plagued the resale market 2.

The strong investor interest—from their initial $1 million seed round to the $7 million Series A, and now potentially an additional $11.7 million—validates that technology-driven solutions for secondary real estate transactions have substantial growth potential.

2️⃣ Proptech funding in India mirrors global evolution patterns but with unique market dynamics

India’s proptech sector is following the global evolution pattern that began with online listings (2007), progressed to data analytics and VR (2013), and now features advanced technologies like AI and machine learning 3.
