Indian kids audio startup Wippi bags $1.2m seed round
Bangalore-based Wippi, an Indian startup that makes conversational, screen-free products for young children, said it raised US$1.2 million in seed funding.
The round was led by 12 Flags, with participation from Warmup Ventures, Ventana Ventures, and Ruvento Ventures.
Wippi said it will use the money for product development, voice AI, hiring, manufacturing in India, and its direct-to-consumer business.
Founded by Rishabh Singhi and Siddhartha Jain, the startup sells the Wippi Player, an audio-first device for children aged four and above that combines voice interaction with story playsets.
Wippi said it has reached more than 2,000 families in India.
The company plans to add more characters, languages, and original content, and reach more than 15,000 families over the next 12 months.
Wippi is entering a small but growing niche in India for children’s screen-free audio products. In the same market, another Indian company said it had about 15,000 users in its first year with an app-led storytelling product and hardware bundle.
