Nobel Hygiene, a Indian manufacturer of hygiene products, has raised 170 crore rupee (US$20 million) in a funding round led by Neo Asset Management, part of the Neo Group.

Nobel Hygiene plans to use the funds to expand its distribution network, strengthen its position in the adult diaper market, and improve operational efficiency as it prepares for its IPO.

Founded in 2000, Nobel Hygiene is a key player in India’s disposable hygiene sector. Its flagship brand, Friends, holds over 40% of the adult diaper market.

The company also produces baby diapers under the Teddyy brand and operates certified facilities in Nashik and Baroda.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ First-mover advantage in India’s expanding adult diaper market

Nobel Hygiene’s funding represents a significant milestone in a journey that began with pioneer status in India’s adult diaper market.

Founded in 2000 by Kamal Kumar Johari, the company initially faced retailer skepticism but broke through with innovative marketing, including newspaper advertisements that generated substantial interest in its Friends brand1.

From modest beginnings, the company has built a commanding market position, with Friends growing from a 50% market share in 2015 to maintaining over 40% today despite increased competition1.

This strong performance aligns with global industry trends, with the adult diaper market projected to grow from $12.037 billion in 2025 to $15.895 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 5.72%2.

Nobel Hygiene’s early entry and manufacturing investment, including a plant in Nashik with Italian machinery, provided crucial quality control advantages that have sustained its leadership as the market expands1.

2️⃣ Demographics and destigmatization driving market expansion

Nobel Hygiene’s funding and IPO plans reflect broader confidence in the adult incontinence market’s substantial growth trajectory, driven by fundamental demographic shifts.
