Indian home services firm Urban Company offers small makeovers

Urban Company has launched Revamp, a new home improvement brand offering one-day small-space makeovers in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Urban Company, based in Gurgaon, provides at-home services across beauty, wellness, and home repairs.

Earlier this year, the company entered the quick commerce space with InstaHelp, a service that connects users to house help in around 25-30 minutes.

Urban Company has also introduced consumer products, including smart locks and water purifiers, under the brand Native.

On April 28, Urban Company filed for an IPO valued at 1.9 billion rupee (US$22.8 million), down from a previously planned 3 billion rupee (US$34.23 million).

The company reported a 38% rise in operating revenue for 2024-25 to 1.1 billion rupee (US$12.56 million) and posted a net profit of 240 million rupee (US$2.74 million), reversing a loss of 93 million rupee (US$1.06 million) the previous year.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Service platforms are evolving into integrated product-service ecosystems

Urban Company’s Revamp launch reflects a broader shift from pure marketplace models to integrated product-service businesses.

The company’s product sales now account for 27% of total revenue, generating ₹304 crore in FY252.

Their Native brand alone saw 303% growth, reaching ₹116 crore in revenue during the same period2.

This transformation addresses a key limitation of traditional service marketplaces: dependency on commission-based revenue from individual transactions.

By selling both products and services, Urban Company creates multiple touchpoints with customers and builds recurring revenue streams that are less dependent on booking frequency.

The company is further expanding this model with planned air conditioner launches by 20263, demonstrating how service insights can inform product development decisions.
