Indian foodtech firm Mealawe raises $1m

Mealawe, a Pune-based foodtech company, has raised US$1 million from international investors, including Shark Tank founders and angel investors from Goldman Sachs and Oracle.

The funding will help expand services to 14 cities, deliver 1 million meals per month, develop women-led kitchens, and enhance corporate cafeteria solutions.

Launched in October 2022, Mealawe currently operates in Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Kota, delivering over 30,000 meals monthly.

Co-founded by Rupesh Kumar, Pratap Haldar, and Nikhil Jain, Mealawe started as a platform connecting home chefs with customers, and now operates a structured kitchen model that creates economic opportunities for women.

Mealawe sources organic ingredients in partnership with farmers to ensure quality.

It also offers corporate cafeteria solutions through a virtual platform, helping businesses provide meals to employees without physical cafeterias.
