Indian fintech firm PayU posts first operating profit
Prosus said in its annual report that PayU India, the Indian fintech arm of Dutch technology investor Prosus, posted fiscal 2026 revenue of US$781 million, up 11% year on year, and reported its first full year of operating profit.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation, or Ebitda, was US$18 million, versus a US$25 million loss in fiscal 2025.
Revenue in the October-to-March half fell to US$384 million from US$395 million in the six months ended Sept. 30, 2025, after PayU India exited certain negative-margin portfolios in the second half, Prosus said.
Prosus said PayU India’s payments segment, its main source of revenue, grew 10% to US$577 million and made up 74% of total revenue.
It said faster-than-market payment processing growth in some segments, while exiting negative-margin portfolios, helped raise adjusted Ebitda for the payments business 4x to US$12 million.
PayU India also received authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a payment aggregator for online, offline, and cross-border transactions.
