Indian fintech firm Juspay posts $14m profit in FY25

Juspay reported a net profit of US$14 million for FY25 before exceptional items and tax, with revenue rising 61% year-on-year to US$61 million.

The Bangalore-based payments technology company said its daily transaction volume grew from 175 million to over 300 million, and its annualized total payment volume rose from US$400 billion to US$1 trillion.

Juspay expanded its international presence with new offices in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America during the year.

The company added several leading merchants and banks, including Agoda, Amadeus, HSBC, and others, to its network.

Juspay plans to invest further in product development, AI, and global expansion in FY26, while aiming to maintain profitability.

It is expanding infrastructure solutions for banks and developing new payment technologies, such as biometric payments in Brazil’s Pix ecosystem.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

  • Juspay’s US$61M revenue on US$1 trillion TPV implies a 0.006% take rate 1. Merchants pay 2.0%–3.5% in card charges that include interchange at 1.3%–2.9% in the U.S. (issuing bank means the consumer’s card issuer), scheme fees at 0.11%–0.15% (networks include Visa and Mastercard), and acquirer margins at 0.20%–0.50% (the acquirer is the merchant processor) 1.
  • Payment platform integration fees were Rs 286.5 crore, about 2.865 billion Indian rupees (a crore is 10 million), and 90% of FY24 revenue from operations 2. Despite 300M daily transactions, Juspay spent Rs 1.61 to earn one rupee in FY23, a 1.61:1 cost-to-revenue ratio 3. The ratio comes from selling infrastructure software, not card acquiring. It does not capture interchange or scheme fees 3.
  • Brazil’s Central Bank will launch Pix Automático on June 16, 2025 4. It enables recurring payments with one consent on Pix, Brazil’s instant payment network 4. Contactless testing began on November 14, 2024, with public release on February 28, 2025 5. Tight timelines favor vendors with ready fraud and risk tools that Juspay offers via its orchestration platform (software that routes payments and applies risk checks across multiple processors) 6.
  • Pix Automático could lift demand for stronger authentication at institutions serving about 60 million consumers without credit cards 4. Juspay focuses on biometrics in Pix, which fits banks adopting facial recognition or fingerprint scanning 7. Brazil set lower limits on unregistered devices on November 1, 2024, and registration with biometric verification lifts those caps 5. EBANX, a Brazil-based payments fintech, projects Pix Automático could draw $30 billion in eCommerce within two years 4.
