Indian EV maker Ather turns profitable as revenue rises 63%
Ather Energy, an India-based electric two-wheeler maker, reported a consolidated net profit of 12.6 million rupees (US$133,000) for Q2 FY27, compared with a 1.5 billion rupees (US$16.2 million) loss a year earlier.
This marked the first time it has turned profitable on a quarterly basis.
Revenue from operations rose 63% year on year to 14.6 billion rupees (US$154 million). Ather sold 93,211 electric two-wheelers in the quarter and reported positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).
The company said demand exceeded production capacity, with its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu reached 98% capacity utilisation during peak production.
Ather’s board approved up to 1.2 billion rupees (US$12.8 million) in capital spending. The company plans to expand the Hosur plant and begin phased production at a new Maharashtra facility from December 2026.
The results come as India’s PM E-DRIVE electric two-wheeler subsidy is set to continue through March 2028, supporting the segment.
