Indian EV charging startup Leanwatts raises $2m

Leanwatts, a Hyderabad-based power electronics startup that develops and manufactures charging and power-conversion products, has raised about US$2 million (181.5 million rupees (US$1.92 million)) in seed funding in two tranches led by Trivest Partners.

Angel investors Abraham George and Alok Rungta also participated in the round.

The company said it will use the funding to expand research and development and scale its local power electronics platforms.

Founded in October 2023, Leanwatts makes portable and onboard chargers ranging from 500W to 6.6kW for electric two-wheelers, L2 and L5 vehicles, and e-tractors at its Hyderabad facility.

Leanwatts said it is also expanding into public charging solutions, rectifiers, power modules, and hybrid inverters, while increasing supply-chain localisation and manufacturing capacity.
