Indian EV charging startup Ionage raises $1.3m

Ionage, an Indian electric vehicle charging software startup, said on October 7 that it raised US$1.3 million in pre-series A funding to expand its platform for finding and paying for chargers across networks.

The company said it will use the capital to add more charger networks and help smaller charge point operators set up and manage charging stations.

Ionage said it has onboarded more than 25,000 four-wheeler charge points and works with more than 75 charging partners. It said the round was led by investors and a consortium of executives from energy and infrastructure companies, without naming them.

The startup said interoperability and reliability remain challenges in India’s charging market, and that nearly two in five public chargers in the country are non-functional.
