Indian egg producer firm Eggoz secures $20m series C

Eggoz, an Indian agri-consumer brand specializing in eggs, has secured US$20 million in a series C funding round led by Gaja Capital.

Existing investors, including IvyCap Ventures, Rebright Partners, and Avaana Capital, also participated in this round.

Founded in 2017 by IIT Kharagpur alumni Abhishek Negi, Aditya Singh, and Uttam Kumar, Eggoz employs a tech-enabled, asset-light model that connects directly with farmers.

The company focuses on safety, traceability, and nutritional quality. It implements multiple safety checks and uses herbal hen feed.

Eggoz markets a range of branded eggs and egg-based snacks aimed at urban consumers looking for convenient, high-protein food options.

Its products are currently available in over 11 major cities, including Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

The company reported a 76% year-on-year revenue growth, with net cash revenue reaching ₹130 crore (US$15.66 million) in FY25.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s branded egg revolution addresses critical quality gap

Eggoz’s funding comes amid a transformative shift in India’s massive egg market where 95% of eggs are still sold loose without quality controls, despite India being the third-largest global egg producer.

This quality gap persists even as Indian egg consumption has increased dramatically—from 38 eggs per capita in 2006 to 66 in 2016, with projections reaching toward 100 eggs per person1.

The branded egg segment is gaining popularity among health-conscious consumers, particularly in urban areas, which consume approximately 75% of all poultry products despite facing higher prices2.

The growth potential is substantial considering that less than 5% of India’s laying hen population is controlled by the ten largest companies, indicating a highly fragmented market ripe for organized players1.

Eggoz’s focus on safety, traceability, and nutritional quality directly addresses longstanding industry challenges identified by experts, including outdated farming practices and insufficient quality control measures that have limited the industry’s development1.
