Indian edtech firm Physics Wallah to invest $55.2m in hybrid centers

PhysicsWallah, an edtech unicorn based in India, plans to invest 460.6 crore rupees (US$55.27 million) to expand its offline and hybrid learning centers in India and select overseas markets, including the Middle East.

The company, which started as an online learning platform, now operates 198 centers in 109 cities in India and the Middle East as of March 31, 2025.

PhysicsWallah said the investment will come from proceeds of its planned IPO, which includes a new equity issue of 3,100 crore rupees (US$372 million) and an offer for sale of 720 crore rupees (US$86.4 million).

234.4 crore rupees (US$28.13 million) will go to Vidyapeeth centers for JEE, NEET, and foundation courses, 49.9 crore rupees (US$5.99 million) to hybrid Pathshala centers, and 176.3 crore rupees (US$21.16 million) to other centers covering defence, chartered accountancy, government exams, and vocational skills.
