Indian D2C brand Yu Foods sees 103.9% revenue surge in FY24
Yu Foods, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) instant food brand, reported a 103.9% revenue increase in FY24, reaching 15.7 crore rupee (US$1.81 million) from 7.7 crore rupee (US$886,203) in FY23, according to regulatory filings.
However, net losses rose by 80.5% to 11.2 crore rupee (US$1.29 million), while total expenses surged 92.86% to 27 crore rupee (US$3.11 million).
The company, founded in 2021 by Bharat Bhalla and Varun Kapur, sells over 25 instant meal products through ecommerce, quick commerce, and 7,500 retail stores across India.
The company adopted Amazon’s “Buying” model to reduce ecommerce shipping costs.
In October 2024, Yu Foods raised 55 crore rupee (US$6.5 million) in a series B funding round led by Ashish Kacholia and the Asian Paints Promoter Group.
For FY25, Yu Foods projects revenue of 40 crore rupee (US$4.60 million) and is currently generating 5 crore rupee (US$575,456) per month.
