Indian cocktail brand shuts down after sale struggle

India-based beverage brand O’Be Cocktails has ceased operations after failing to find a buyer for over a year. The company confirmed its closure in a LinkedIn post, stating, “Our brand, O’Be Cocktails, is no longer operational.”

Founded in 2019 by Nitesh Prakash, the startup specialized in ready-to-drink cocktails and operated in nine states, including Bengaluru, Goa, and Hyderabad.

It was backed by investors like Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal and Tracxn founder Abhishek Goyal. In 2023, it raised an undisclosed pre-series A round led by Inflection Point Ventures.

Prakash cited challenges in the Indian alcoholic beverage market, calling it “commoditized” and not suited for O’Be Cocktails’ premium vision.

He said price sensitivity hindered sustainability, and all efforts to sell the company were unsuccessful.
