Indian cargo drone startup KAT secures pre-seed funding
Khageshvara Aviation Technology (K.A.T), an Indian startup developing electric vertical take-off and landing cargo aircraft, has secured an undisclosed investment from Finvolve and India Accelerator.
The investment is part of K.A.T’s pre-seed round. Other participants named by the company include Rukam Capital, ACIC-VGU, and MIETY.
K.A.T said the funding would support product development, field testing, certification milestones, and engineering hires.
The startup, which lists Jaipur as its base, said it is building unmanned eVTOL platforms, with cargo aircraft payload capacities ranging from 5 kg to 400 kg.
K.A.T said K-VAAYU completed Technology Readiness Level 5 field trials, while K-RUDRA reached TRL 4 laboratory validation.
India’s aviation regulator has issued type-certification guidance for piloted vertical take-off and landing aircraft. K.A.T is targeting a cargo drone market where Indian armed forces are inducting more than 500 drones for remote border resupply.
