Indian B2B ecommerce firm Jumbotail bags $120m series D

Bengaluru-based B2B marketplace Jumbotail has raised US$120 million in a series D funding round led by SC Ventures, the investment arm of Standard Chartered.

Existing investor Artal Asia also participated, bringing Jumbotail’s total funding to US$263 million.

The company has finalized its acquisition of Solv India, a B2B commerce and financial services platform incubated by SC Ventures.

The Competition Commission of India approved the acquisition, which combines the operations of Jumbotail and Solv to serve over 500,000 retailers and MSMEs across various categories.

With the new funding, Jumbotail plans to enhance its AI-driven platform and expand capabilities to support small businesses in India’s retail sector.

Founded in 2015, Jumbotail provides digital tools, credit access, and operational support to small retailers.

The company’s aim is to modernize traditional retail ecosystems in India.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s kirana digitization shows remarkable scale after a decade of experimentation

Jumbotail’s growth from serving 20,000 kirana stores in Bangalore in 2019 to over 500,000 retailers across 400+ cities in 2025 demonstrates how B2B retail platforms have successfully scaled beyond urban centers1.

This 25x growth in retailer adoption over six years shows that the initial resistance to digitization among small retailers has been overcome through models that address their specific pain points like inventory management, transparent pricing, and storefront delivery2.

The company’s expansion validates its full-stack approach combining marketplace, logistics, and fintech services rather than pursuing a pure marketplace model, proving that infrastructure development was necessary alongside digital interfaces in emerging markets.

When Jumbotail began in 2015, less than 8% of India’s grocery retail was organized, with the $600 billion market largely dominated by fragmented small retailers who lacked digital tools3.

The substantial funding trajectory—from approximately $23 million in 2019 to $263 million total raised by 2025—reflects investor confidence in the long-term viability of platforms connecting India’s massive small retailer ecosystem to formal supply chains.
