Indian automobile marketplace CarTrade reports $5.26m profit
CarTrade, an online classifieds and auto auction platform, reported a consolidated net profit of 45.53 crore rupees (US$5.26 million) for Q3 FY25.
This marks a recovery from a loss of 23.55 crore rupees (US$2.72 million) in the same quarter last year.
CarTrade incurred a one-time loss of 45.51 crore rupees (US$5.26 million) after its subsidiary, Sobek Auto India, shut down its auto sales division due to unit economic issues.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) surged 98% year-on-year to 50.07 crore rupees (US$5.78 million), with the EBITDA margin rose to 28%, up from 18% last year.
The company attributed this growth to strong performance across its three key business segments: consumer, remarketing, and classifieds.
During the quarter, CarTrade’s expenses rose by 11% year-on-year, with employee expenses rising by 8%.
Following the earnings announcement, CarTrade’s stock surged by 18.65% during early trading hours, reaching 1,574 rupees (US$18.18), a 15% increase from the previous close.
