Indian AI platform Hyperbots raises $6.5m for US expansion

Bengaluru-based AI platform Hyperbots has raised US$6.5 million in a series A funding round.

The round was co-led by Arkam Ventures and Athera Venture Partners, with participation from JSW Ventures and existing investors, including Kalaari Ventures, Sunicon Ventures, and Darashaw & Company.

The company plans to use the funds to expand its presence in the US market.

It also aims to develop new AI tools for finance teams, including the launch of HyperLM, a large language model trained specifically on finance and accounting data.

Founded in 2023 by Rajeev Pathak, Niyati Chhaya, and Ram Jayaraman, Hyperbots offers AI-driven assistants to automate tasks in finance and accounting.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ AI in finance market poised for explosive growth

Hyperbots’ funding comes amid a projected surge in AI financial technology adoption, with the market expected to grow from $38.36 billion in 2024 to $190.33 billion by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 30.6% 1.

This growth is driven by tangible business results, with over 70% of financial institutions reporting improved operational efficiency through AI implementation and 60% achieving cost reductions of up to 30% 1.

The startup’s focus on mid-market US companies appears strategically sound, as North America is expected to dominate the global AI finance market, reaching $73.83 billion by 2030 1.

By developing proprietary domain-trained AI models specifically for finance and accounting, Hyperbots is addressing a critical industry need reflected in broader market trends where 80% of financial firms plan to increase their AI investments 1.

2️⃣ Finance workforce transformation creates strategic opportunity

Hyperbots’ timing aligns with a significant demographic shift in accounting and finance, as 75% of CPAs are projected to retire within the next decade, creating substantial staffing challenges 2.

This labor shortage is pushing firms to adopt AI solutions that can handle routine tasks while allowing remaining staff to focus on higher-value strategic work. This aligns with Hyperbots’ claim of reducing human involvement by 80% 3.

The company’s development of specialized finance and accounting LLMs addresses the industry’s evolution from manual data processing to strategic financial analysis, reflecting the broader trend where finance professionals are increasingly becoming data interpreters and strategic advisors 4.
