India relaxes rules for digital banking operations
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has relaxed digital banking rules. Banks can now display products and services after customers log in to digital platforms.
They can showcase government schemes and third-party financial products if these are also available in physical branches.
RBI has also removed the need for prior approval before launching new digital channels.
Banks must still meet minimum capital adequacy and net worth requirements, as RBI did not lower these thresholds.
The central bank also dropped the proposed rule requiring customer confirmation for unusual transactions, citing existing fraud risk management guidelines.
These changes aim to simplify digital banking operations across India.
