India plans $1b fund to support digital creators: minister
The Indian government has announced a plan to establish a US$1 billion fund to support the creator economy.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made this announcement during a press briefing regarding the upcoming World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.
According to Minister Vaishnaw, the fund will provide digital content creators with access to capital. This initiative aims to improve skills, enhance production quality, and expand creators’ outreach to global markets.
This will contribute to the growth of the creator economy in India.
