India has ordered the blocking of 25 streaming services for allegedly promoting “obscene” content.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the directive under the IT Act of 2000 and IT Rules of 2021.

This follows concerns from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and a Parliamentary Committee.

Affected platforms include Ullu and ALTT, known for adult content and millions of viewers.

Internet service providers and app stores like Google Play and Apple were instructed to restrict access.

Some apps, like ALTT, have already been removed, while others, like Ullu, are still accessible on select platforms.
