Amazon exceeded Q2 profit forecasts due to extensive layoffs as part of an ongoing cost-cutting campaign, notwithstanding a drop in Amazon Web Services (AWS) sales. AWS sales were US$22.14 billion, overcoming analyst predictions of US$21.71 billion, an important consideration for technology investors. Amazon’s Q3 revenue outlook of between US$138 billion and US$143 billion also surpassed expectations.
