IBM said on June 22 that it partnered with OpenAI on cybersecurity after it joined the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program.

The company also launched a managed application security service that uses OpenAI’s cyber capabilities to help enterprises identify and validate software vulnerabilities in their code.

IBM said the service goes beyond traditional code scanning.

It analyzes application code, prioritizes sections most likely to contain flaws and exploitable paths, and operates through IBM Consulting Advantage inside client environments with read-only access to code repositories.

The company said the service is now available, with additional integrations planned.

IBM shares rose 3.6% in after-hours trading after the announcement.

The partnership comes as large vendors push AI deeper into cyber defense. Microsoft already offers Security Copilot across products including Sentinel and Defender.
