Hyundai, Tesla take rivalry into humanoid robots

Hyundai Motor Group and Tesla are expanding their rivalry into humanoid robotics, following their competition in electric vehicles.

Hyundai’s US subsidiary, Boston Dynamics, plans to launch its Atlas robot at around US$130,000. Tesla’s Optimus robot is projected to cost between US$20,000 and US$30,000.

Industry experts note Tesla may adopt a tiered pricing strategy to target different markets. Chinese manufacturers currently offer lower-cost humanoid robots, which could influence global pricing standards.

Experts also highlight regulatory challenges for household robots, which may face stricter safety standards compared to industrial models.
