Hyundai, Nvidia in talks for South Korea AI center: report

Hyundai Motor Group, Nvidia, and South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT are in late-stage talks to establish an AI technology center in the country, according to industry and government sources.

The talks follow an October 31 memorandum among the three parties.

The agreement covered plans for an Nvidia AI Technology Center, Hyundai Motor Group’s Physical AI Application Center, and regional AI data centers in South Korea as part of an approximately $3 billion physical AI investment.

Saemangeum is a possible site because the area is developing a 3-gigawatt renewable energy cluster. Hyundai Motor Group is also planning an integrated innovation hub there that includes AI data center and robotics facilities.

A Hyundai Motor Group official said no decision had been made on whether to establish the center or on its timing or location.
