Hyundai, Kia invest in AI infrastructure firm VAST Data
VAST Data, a US-based AI infrastructure company, said on October 15 that Hyundai Motor Company and Kia made an investment after using its platform for advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous driving, and robotics.
VAST said 42dot, the automakers’ autonomous mobility and global software unit, consolidated advanced driver assistance and language model workloads onto a VAST platform running on Nvidia hardware.
VAST said the deployment cut storage needs for sensor and video data by half and let 42dot expand capacity within its existing data center footprint.
VAST said the investment came after its series F funding round in April 2026, which valued the company at US$30 billion.
That round included Nvidia, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and NEA.
Hyundai Motor Group also has a broader partnership with Nvidia to accelerate connected and autonomous vehicle development, including in-vehicle infotainment and autonomous driving platforms.
