Yinwang, Huawei’s smart-car unit, said on June 22 that it will raise the recommended retail price of a one-time purchase of the Huawei Qiankun ADS Max package to 36,000 yuan (US$5,300) from a promotional 32,000 yuan (US$4,700) starting July 1.

With automaker subsidies, the final price may rise to 15,000 yuan (US$2,200) from 12,000 yuan (US$1,800).

The package will also add protection for personal injury and property damage to the insured vehicle and third parties during normal use of Huawei Qiankun ADS assisted driving on legally permitted roads and in permitted areas.

The coverage will expand from parking to urban and highway navigation assist. Buyers who purchase the package before July 1 will get one year of protection, while later buyers can get up to three years.

Huawei spun out Yinwang from its Intelligent Automotive Solution unit in January 2024 to supply parts and software to automakers, and Qiankun is part of that business.

ADS Max uses a 192-line LiDAR setup for map-less urban navigation assist, parking-space-to-parking-space functions, and valet parking.

It is available on models including the Wenjie M8, Zhijie R7, and Voyah Chasing Light L.

The move follows a similar policy from BYD. On June 1, BYD said it would assume liability for at-fault crashes during compliant use of its urban driving system, as China has banned adverts implying full autonomy.
