Huawei unveils AI infrastructure to compete with Nvidia
Huawei has introduced new AI infrastructure aimed at boosting compute power and competing with Nvidia.
At its Huawei Connect conference in Shenzhen, the company announced SuperPoD Interconnect technology, which can link up to 15,000 graphics cards, including Huawei’s Ascend AI chips.
The new system is positioned as an alternative to Nvidia’s NVLink, which enables high-speed communication between AI chips.
Clustering more chips together could help Huawei make its AI systems more competitive, as demand for compute power grows.
The announcement follows China’s recent decision to ban domestic tech firms from buying Nvidia hardware, including RTX Pro 600D servers made for the Chinese market.
