Chinese telecom and cloud company Huawei said in Bangkok on July 24 that it launched the Thailand AI Ecosystem Initiative with local partners and introduced new AI cloud offerings, as Thailand moved ahead with its national AI plan.

Huawei said its events with Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society drew more than 3,000 participants from government, telecom, and industry.

The company said the initiative was proposed by Huawei, the AI Association of Thailand, telecom carriers, local large language model developers, and universities.

The announcement came as Thailand implemented a national AI plan focused on infrastructure, ethical, legal, and regulatory readiness, human capability, technology and innovation, and adoption.

The plan also aimed to train more than 30,000 AI workers within six years.

Huawei Cloud also said its Agentic Infrastructure is now available in Thailand and that it launched open beta testing for CodeArts Agent in the country.

Competition is rising as Google has launched a cloud region in Bangkok, while Amazon Web Services and Microsoft are also expanding cloud infrastructure in Thailand.
