Huawei joins OpenAI, Google in AI standards alliance.

Huawei Technologies has joined the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a global group developing open-source standards for agentic AI, joining an alliance whose founding members include US companies OpenAI and Google.

The AAIF announced Huawei as one of 97 new members, raising total membership to 146, mostly from Europe and North America.

Huawei and Lenovo are the first Chinese members and are part of the gold tier.

Despite US sanctions and export controls restricting the global use of its Ascend chips, Huawei has been active in setting international standards for technologies such as 4G and 5G.
