Huawei Technologies has established a joint venture with China’s Changan Automobile to develop smart-vehicle systems, marking the US-sanctioned firm’s further expansion into the automotive industry.

Despite its previous denials of car manufacture ambitions, this strategic partnership could see Huawei play a leading role in the new enterprise, with Changan expected to hold up to a 40% equity stake.
