HSBC launches cross-border tokenised deposit service in Singapore

HSBC has launched its tokenised deposit service (TDS) in Singapore, extending its blockchain payment system beyond Hong Kong.

The service enables real-time, 24/7 settlement and was used by Ant International for instant SGD and USD payments between corporate wallets at HSBC Singapore.

In September 2025, HSBC completed its first USD cross-border digital token transaction for Ant International between Hong Kong and Singapore.

TDS uses distributed ledger technology to convert traditional deposits into digital tokens, allowing instant and programmable payments from clients’ own systems.

The service eliminates cut-off times and integrates seamlessly with existing treasury operations for more efficient cash management.

HSBC first introduced TDS for domestic payments in Hong Kong and Singapore, and now offers it in the UK and Luxembourg for payments in currencies such as GBP and EUR.
