HSBC launches AI tool for corporate banking clients
HSBC announced HSBCnio on October 26 for corporate and institutional clients. The digital tool lets clients access HSBC banking services on the web and mobile using existing HSBCnet logins and permissions, or connect their internal systems through application programming interfaces (APIs).
The company said clients’ AI tools can access authorised account and transaction data on a read-only basis through the bank’s Model Context Protocol.
HSBC also plans to add more transaction banking features over time, including Ask HSBC, an AI-enabled tool to querying and interpreting banking information.
The launch announcement did not specify whether Hong Kong is the first market for HSBCnio or outline its rollout geography.
HSBC linked the launch to Hong Kong’s cross-border treasury needs. The Hong Kong government announced an action plan on June 9, 2026, to attract regional and global corporate treasury centers.
Hong Kong’s banking regulator issued guidance on generative AI in customer-facing applications. Peers including JP Morgan are also applying AI to corporate cash and treasury services.
