HSA registers healthtech firm Oral Link’s AI dental tool
Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority registered Oral Link’s Class B AI dental screening software as a medical device, the company said on September 7.
The approval lets consumers in Singapore submit smartphone photos of their teeth without an initial clinic visit or radiograph.
Oral Link, a Singapore-based dental AI startup, said the product is Singapore’s first HSA-registered AI dental screening tool for direct consumer use.
Users submit five images and receive a structured report that categorises possible issues by location, severity, and type, along with an overall risk classification.
The company said it has started using the screening tool at community events at Siglap Community Centre and Kreta Ayer Community Centre.
Oral Link is also developing an AI companion chatbot with Nanyang Polytechnic.
Published research has examined the diagnostic feasibility of dental AI.
Separate studies have looked at user perceptions and tested AI-driven smartphone imaging, although the reviewed materials did not include specific accuracy figures.
