US HR platform Deel acquires deepfake startup Clarity
San Francisco-based workforce platform Deel has acquired Clarity, a Tel Aviv-based startup that builds identity verification and deepfake detection tools for hiring.
The companies did not disclose terms. The deal was estimated at US$40 million to US$50 million in cash and shares.
Deel said this was its 15th acquisition and it surpassed US$1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue in the first half of 2026.
Founded in 2022, Clarity has raised US$16 million from investors including Walden Catalyst Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners.
Deel said it will integrate Clarity’s team and technology to its platform, which it says helps companies hire and pay workers globally across payroll, employer-of-record, human resources, information technology, and compliance.
Clarity’s tools sit inside hiring workflows, including application screening, deepfake checks in video interviews, cheating detection during assessments, and identity checks at the offer stage.
The deal comes as hiring fraud gains attention.
In a Resume Genius survey cited in coverage, 17% of 1,000 US hiring managers said they had encountered candidates using deepfake technology in video interviews.
