HP doubles down on AI-powered workplace tech
HP used its Imagine conference in New York to preview HP IQ, an on-device AI layer for business PCs, alongside new security features and workstation hardware set to roll out in 2026.
HP IQ is an on-device AI layer for business PCs that determines whether AI requests are handled by a local model or sent to the cloud, and it is slated for early access in spring 2026 on EliteBook X G2 laptops.
The company also introduced NearSense for nearby device file sharing and TPM Guard to protect the link between the TPM chip and processor against physical attacks that can bypass BitLocker.
New systems include the Z8 Fury G6i desktop and updated ZBook mobile workstations, while HP said some design tasks can run more than 3x faster than earlier models.
HP also showed the Dimension system developed with Google using Beam technology for 3D calls with pricing around A$38,500 before licenses.
