Hong Kong IPO market to surge as over 200 firms plan to list
More than 200 companies are preparing to go public in Hong Kong, according to the city’s financial secretary Paul Chan.
Chan told Bloomberg that the IPO pipeline is “very strong,” with many mainland Chinese firms choosing Hong Kong as a fundraising platform for overseas expansion.
In Q3 2025, Hong Kong’s equity sales—including IPOs, placements, and block trades—reached their highest level in four years, surpassing the total proceeds for all of 2024, based on Bloomberg data.
Major listings this year include battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. and mining company Zijin Gold International Co.
The Hang Seng Index has risen 29% in 2025, ranking among the top-performing developed markets.
Chan said that about half of Hong Kong’s trading volume comes from investors outside mainland China, including Europe, the US, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority will host another summit for global bankers next month, with around 100 CEOs and chairs expected to attend.
