Hong Kong explores crypto products to lead in digital assets
Hong Kong is considering new cryptocurrency products, including derivatives and margin lending, for select investors, said Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), at the Coindesk Consensus Hong Kong 2025 conference.
The move aligns with Hong Kong’s goal to lead in digital assets.
Financial secretary, Paul Chan, said that nine digital asset trading licenses have been issued, with eight more applications under review.
The government is also drafting regulations for stablecoins, reinforcing its push to become a virtual asset hub after China banned crypto transactions in 2021.
