🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Revenue is rising, though profit recently missed forecasts
- AI server demand is lifting revenue, after a quarter when net income reached NT$45.2 billion (US$1.43 billion) and missed the NT$59.9 billion (US$1.89 billion) analyst average 1.
- That gap came from higher taxes on earnings returned to Taiwan, not weaker operations 2.
- The makeup of Hon Hai’s revenue is changing. In the quarter ended December, cloud and networking products brought in 42% of revenue, ahead of smartphones at 39% for the first time 3.
- Hon Hai also says it holds more than 40% of the global AI server market 3.
Hon Hai is building complete AI systems and using them in its own work
- At Nvidia GTC 2026, Nvidia’s annual developer conference, Hon Hai presented full AI server racks for Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 platform, a high-performance AI computing system 4.
- It is also working with Nvidia on an AI-powered industrial humanoid robot 4.
- Foxconn, another name for Hon Hai, plans to use Nvidia Grace Blackwell for smart solution platforms in AI-powered electric vehicle and robotics systems 5. Grace Blackwell is Nvidia’s AI computing platform 5.
- Hon Hai says its global AI infrastructure plan tops 1 gigawatt of deployed capacity. It is also using Nvidia Omniverse, a software platform for simulating and designing virtual factories and other digital environments, with its FactoryGPT in the digital-twin Genesis initiative 4.
